If you find yourself in Bruton, you simply cannot miss out on the delightful gem known as Desi Cafe. Nestled at the back of a shop and post office on High Street, this charming cafe presents an inviting atmosphere that is both cozy and eclectic, adorned with beautiful murals and mismatched furniture that creates a sense of homeaway-from-home.
Desi Cafe specializes in a delightful confluence of flavors, offering a menu that embraces both traditional Indian cuisine and British favorites. For lunch, your taste buds will rejoice with the vibrant Veg Thali, which is a feast in itself, presenting an array of flavors on one plate. The Acai Berry Bowl is perfect for a healthy boost, while the Mushroom and Creamy Avocado Toast can make your mornings feel a little more indulgent. Breakfast enthusiasts will also love the hearty Classic Breakfast and the smooth and rich Hot Chocolate.
Guests rave about the friendly service, particularly from Vaibarvi, who brings warmth and efficiency to your dining experience. Sue Heath exclaimed about the delicious lunch special she enjoyed, mentioning the lovingly made samosa and the flavorful Utthapam with sambal and coconut chutney. This level of authenticity resonates throughout the cafe, making every bite feel genuine and wholesome.
The cafe is celebrated not just for its food but also for its fantastic environment where relaxing and unwinding is easy. Christine Kb called out Desi Cafe for serving the best latte she’s ever had, leading to an unexpected gem that over-delivered on taste in a space that looked deceptively quiet at first glance. The inviting vibe encourages you to linger, whether you're dining solo or sharing a lively meal with friends.
Families, too, have found a home at Desi Cafe, as Amy Carson discovered. Her kids enthusiastically devoured their meals, including a delicious jacket potato and ham & cheese panini. This speaks volumes about Desi Cafe's ability to cater to all age groups, while also introducing them to the rich flavors of traditional Indian cuisine.
Moreover, Desi Cafe has proven to be an excellent choice for catering, as John Butcher noted, commending the affordability and attentiveness of the owner while catering to his film crew. Such testimonials underscore the cafe as a pivotal aspect of the local community.
Whether you’re in for a quick coffee, a thoughtfully prepared meal, or simply to soak in the artistic atmosphere, Desi Cafe warmly invites you to step into their world of delightful flavors and generous hospitality. Make sure to drop in, and who knows? You might just find your new favorite cafe nestled right where tradition and creativity meet!

Just had a delicious lunch at this great little cafe in Bruton. A reasonable range of vegan options. We shared a really good samosa and then both had the utthapam with sambal and coconut chutney. Very tasty indeed and good value in an expensive part of the world. The shop which hosts the cafe is excellent, btw - looks like your usual high street grocery store but has a fantastic range of unusual foods and interesting brands. And the owners are so friendly - we're housesitting in the area and, having popped in a few times, have been made to feel really welcome. A great little cafe and shop. Oh, and we took away two more freshly cooked samosas for our tea!

I love coming to this cafe on a Friday. It’s secluded, at the back of a shop and post office (useful) and offers breakfasts, light lunches, lattes, smoothies and more. Vaibarvi is a lovely, efficient and courteous hostess. A delightful place to eat solo or with others. Highly recommended. Zen Kyle

BEST latte of my entire life. The place is tucked behind the Londis though and I had to walk through the shop to get to it and it looked deserted, only to discover the best latte of my life in the most unassuming places. The murals on the walls and the panels are an authentic beautiful touch, as are the mismatched chairs. There is little natural light coming in though, and that combined with the empty seats and abandoned counter gives an air of desolation and I hate it for them because the service is prompt and the coffee to die for.

Just had a delicious lunch at our new local cafe. An amazing menu, great atmosphere and lovely staff. The kids loved it - they ate everything on their plates (jacket potato, ham&cheese panini) and most of ours too (incredible onion bahjis)! We can’t wait to go back and try the Dragon fruit and baobab smoothie bowl.

We used the Desi Cafe to provide the catering for our crew on a film being shot in Bruton over 3 days. The cost was incredibly reasonable, the food was excellent and the owner very helpful. Would highly recommend eating here or using for Cateirng!

Value for money and great people. Everytime I visit Bruton I make at least one trip to Desi Cafe. This family run cafe is one of the rare places in this area which is both affordable and delicious. Genuine desi food but they also serve british food and fusion food. Small menu that covers all the basics plus a few interesting finds. The scrambled paneer is particularly good.
